CharlesLeclerc

The category's first season under the Formula 2 name belonged, almost from the outset, to Charles Leclerc. The Monégasque rookie turned a feeder championship into a procession: pole after pole, a run of commanding wins, and the kind of control that made the title feel inevitable long before it was sealed. Driving for PREMA, Leclerc blended raw qualifying pace with a maturity beyond his years, managing tyres and races with a champion's calm even amid the emotion of a season shadowed by personal loss. Artem Markelov, the seasoned Russian, was the closest challenger and a frequent Sunday winner, but he was chasing a phenomenon. The 2017 title was less a fight than a coronation, and it launched Leclerc straight to Formula 1 with Sauber for 2018 — the first step of a journey that would take him to Ferrari.
