The Story

Leclerc took pole on the streets of Baku and turned it into a statement: a perfect getaway, the lead throughout, and a dominant Feature win by around three and a half seconds over de Vries, days after the death of his father. The race was chaotic behind him, with multiple safety cars before a red flag ended it early when Gelael crashed at the narrow Turn 8 and Sirotkin had nowhere to go, blocking the track. Results were counted back. Rowland crossed the line fourth on the road but a ten-second penalty for failing to slow under yellows dropped him out of the order, promoting Latifi to third behind de Vries, with Markelov, Nato and King in the points. In Sunday's Sprint, Rowland led early before retiring with a mechanical failure, while de Vries spun off down an escape road. Leclerc charged from eighth and took the lead late, only to be hit with a ten-second penalty, again for failing to slow under yellows, which handed the win to Nato. Leclerc was classified second, Latifi third, with Sirotkin and Markelov behind. King was disqualified from a top-four finish on the road. Leclerc left Baku leading the standings.
