Hungary handed Leclerc a setback before a wheel had turned: set for another pole, he was disqualified from qualifying after PREMA used an illegal brass shim in his differential, sending him to the back. Rowland inherited pole. Off the line Markelov dived inside at Turn 1 to take the lead, but Rowland fought back and the strategy settled it: Rowland pitted to mediums and emerged ahead, Markelov a lap later but unable to repass, with track position securing the win. Leclerc ran the opposite strategy and charged from the back to fourth. With a few laps left, Markelov went onto the grass while pressuring Rowland and crashed at the Turn 1 barrier, bringing out a safety car that ended the race. Rowland's defence was investigated and ruled legal, the win his, with Latifi second for a DAMS one-two and de Vries third. In the Sprint, Matsushita stormed from fourth past Albon and Nato into Turn 1 to lead and won comfortably. Rowland reeled in de Vries and took second on the penultimate lap, de Vries third. Two cautions interrupted things. Leclerc nursed clutch trouble late to hold fourth.
