The Story

Four F3 graduates debuted on Jeddah's fast new street circuit, including Sargeant, Caldwell, Doohan and Novalak. Piastri took pole ahead of Shwartzman and Pourchaire. Armstrong won a hectic Sprint 1 by under a second from Lawson and Vips, with Pourchaire crashing out and a lap-one collision between Sato and Samaia, for which Caldwell was penalised. Piastri won Sprint 2 ahead of Viscaal and Shwartzman through three safety cars: a first-lap Turn 1 pile-up, contact between Vips and Drugovich, and a heavy late crash for Lawson, who emerged unscathed. The Feature was overshadowed by a frightening start: Pourchaire stalled from third and was hit at speed by the unsighted Fittipaldi, a heavy shunt that red-flagged the race and sent both drivers to hospital. The restarted, shortened race ran to half points with a mandatory stop, then a second red flag after a Samaia-Caldwell collision ended it for good after only a handful of laps. Piastri won from Shwartzman and Boschung, with Zhou fourth and Drugovich fifth. Prema's double podium clinched a second straight teams' title. Piastri carried a commanding points lead into the finale.
