The Story

Zhou edged Lundgaard by just three thousandths for pole at Sakhir, while Vips was disqualified from qualifying for a technical infringement and started all three races from the back. The opening Sprint belonged to Lawson, who controlled it from the front and held off Daruvala by under a second; Ticktum collected a penalty for tangling with Verschoor. Sprint 2 produced a classic. Vips led from the reversed-grid front, but a Turn 1 lap-one clash put Shwartzman and Ticktum out on the spot, and three safety cars bunched the field. At the final restart Zhou led on worn hard tyres while Piastri and Lundgaard had fresh softs; on the last lap the Alpine-aligned trio ran three-wide, Piastri threading through for the win as Lundgaard dived around the outside. Lawson crashed out. The Feature went to Zhou from pole, holding Ticktum by under half a second after a late safety car triggered a clutch of infringement penalties for Drugovich, Lundgaard, Vips and others. Piastri tagged Ticktum near the end and retired but was classified. Zhou left Sakhir with the championship lead from Lawson and Daruvala.
