Formula 2's first visit to Paul Ricard brought a wet-to-dry Feature. Russell took pole and led off the line as light rain made the early laps treacherous; Norris stalled on the grid, ruining his afternoon. As the track dried, the pivotal calls came at the pit stops, where Albon and the leaders switched to slicks while those who gambled on staying out on wets lost out. Russell led lights-to-flag to win, with Sette Câmara closing late and lunging at the final corner without success. Fuoco served a stop-and-go for a grid infringement and still recovered to fourth. After the race Merhi was disqualified from the podium for underweight tyre pressures, promoting Ghiotto to third behind Sette Câmara. Norris failed to score for the first time in the season, trimming his lead. The Sprint went to de Vries, who hunted down Delétraz and took the lead at the chicane to win comfortably, with Delétraz second and Ghiotto third. Norris recovered to fifth, only to be hit by Latifi on the final lap as the DAMS man tried to retake the place and shot off himself. Russell, struck by a throttle problem before the start, trailed home well out of the points.
