The Story

Melbourne's Sprint was decided by the stewards. Hadjar led every lap but was hit with a ten-second penalty for a start collision that took out his teammate Martí and Bortoleto, dropping him to sixth and handing victory to Staněk, who beat Hauger and Maini. A second safety car came when Antonelli lost the rear at Turn 12, spinning Verschoor into Aron; Antonelli and Verschoor retired. Bearman, also penalised for forcing Dürksen off, dropped down the order. The Feature flipped on Hauger's misfortune: the pole-sitter led but crashed out at Turn 6 with a tyre problem, the resulting safety car arriving just after Hadjar had completed his mandatory stop, leaving him effectively in front. Hadjar controlled it to the flag from Aron and Maloney. Bortoleto retired with hydraulic trouble and O'Sullivan was out after early contact. Afterwards Colapinto was disqualified for a race-start procedure breach, promoting Crawford into the points, while O'Sullivan and Dürksen picked up grid penalties for the next round. Maloney's third place extended his championship lead as the early form settled into a multi-driver fight.
