The Story

Bearman took a wet pole at Spa ahead of Vesti. The Sprint ran in drier conditions, and Daruvala led from reversed-grid pole before retiring early with a headrest problem, handing the front to Verschoor. Fittipaldi saved his tyres, closed in late and passed Verschoor into Les Combes on the penultimate lap for a maiden win. A safety car followed a Cordeel spin on lap one. Verschoor was then disqualified from second for an unapproved throttle map at the start, promoting Pourchaire to second and Hauger to third. The Feature was a Doohan masterclass from 11th on the alternate strategy. Disaster struck Vesti before it even began: the championship leader spun off on the reconnaissance lap at Kemmel and did not start – a major title blow. Doohan pitted under a safety car for softs, emerged second behind Pourchaire and passed him with DRS into Les Combes for a back-to-back win. Multiple cautions punctuated the race, and Hauger was disqualified. Pourchaire finished second, Fittipaldi third, and with Vesti scoring nothing, Pourchaire seized the championship lead at the summer break.
