At the Hungaroring, Doohan claimed pole by a slender margin over Martins. The Sprint, from a reversed grid, was led throughout by Hauger, who dived inside at Turn 1 and never relinquished the front, taking the win from Iwasa, who set fastest lap, and Bearman, who passed Pourchaire for third in the closing laps. A virtual safety car followed a Novalak misjudgement at Turn 1 that eliminated Boschung. Championship leader Vesti could only manage ninth, scoring nothing, and Pourchaire cut the gap to a single point. The Feature was Doohan's from start to finish. He led every lap on pole, while a Vesti–Martins clash at the first corner reshuffled the pursuit, with Vesti emerging second. Pourchaire ran wide at Turn 2 after his stop and lost ground to Martins and Hadjar, finishing only sixth. Iwasa ran the alternate strategy to recover to fourth. There were no safety cars in the Feature. Doohan won ahead of Vesti and Martins, and with Vesti second and Pourchaire sixth, Vesti restored a more comfortable championship lead leaving Hungary.
