The Story

Lawson took pole at Baku ahead of Hitech team-mate Vips. Sprint 1 was Shwartzman's from reversed-grid pole, leading every lap, but the headline was a first-lap Turn 2 crash: Drugovich nudged Piastri into Vips, and the damaged Piastri speared Lawson into the wall, both out instantly. Drugovich took a ten-second penalty. Ticktum carved through to second behind Shwartzman, with Zhou third. Sprint 2, the 100th F2 race, fell to Vips, who passed Beckmann for the lead; first-lap chaos took out Boschung and spun Zhou into retirement, Nissany earning a drive-through for hitting Verschoor, and Armstrong crashing out early. In the Feature, Vips swept past pole-man Lawson at the start to become the first driver to win two races in a single F2 weekend. A lap-one melee, when Lawson squeezed Pourchaire wide, put Pourchaire and Armstrong out and brought the safety car; Nannini failed to start. Piastri closed late but a five-second penalty for an unsafe pit release sealed Vips's win, with Shwartzman third and Drugovich fourth. Zhou stayed top of the standings, Piastri and Shwartzman close behind after the Baku chaos.
