The Story

Mugello produced a frantic Feature. Lundgaard took pole by just 0.005s from Ticktum, but made a poor start and dropped back. A safety car for Alesi's stricken car set up a late restart that descended into carnage: Tsunoda clipped Ticktum at Turn 1 and was later penalised, while Zhou collided with Schumacher and Aitken, nearly flipping Aitken's Campos and ending both their races. A second safety car was needed, but contrary to expectations there was no red flag. Mazepin, from 14th on a fresher-tyre strategy, surged past Lundgaard and Ghiotto in the closing laps to win by around four and a half seconds, a Hitech 1-2 with Ghiotto second and Delétraz a whisker behind in third. Shwartzman retired with engine failure. The reversed-grid Sprint was dominated by Lundgaard, who led from the start and won by over fourteen seconds, with Delétraz second and Vips claiming his first F2 podium in third. The Hitech teammates clashed when Mazepin locked up and launched Ghiotto airborne, drawing a ten-second penalty that left Mazepin 18th. Schumacher's consistency carried him to the championship lead over Ilott.
