Sochi qualifying produced a Carlin lockout at the front, Tsunoda beating teammate Daruvala by just 0.006s, with title rivals Schumacher and Ilott on row two. The Feature went to Schumacher, who passed Daruvala before Turn 1 then took the lead from Tsunoda with a dummy into Turn 2 in the closing stages. A first-lap Turn 2 collision involving Vips, Piquet and Lundgaard among others brought an early safety car. Schumacher managed the supersoft phase to win by around six seconds, with Tsunoda holding off Ilott for second after Ilott had briefly used DRS to pass. Daruvala took fifth. The reversed-grid Sprint went to Zhou, who led throughout from pole, sources noting it as his maiden F2 win and the first by a Chinese driver at this level. The race ended early when Aitken and Ghiotto collided heavily into the barriers at Turn 3, Ghiotto's car catching fire with both drivers walking away; the damage forced abandonment. Under reduced distance, half points were awarded, with the classification taken by countback. Schumacher extended his championship lead over Ilott to 22 points.
