The Story

The finale on Bahrain's Outer Track decided the title. Tsunoda took pole by 0.122s from Mazepin in a session ended early by Schumacher-Nissany contact, the champion-elect down in 18th. In the Feature, Tsunoda survived a poor start, recovered after his stop and beat Mazepin with a late-braking move to take his third win of the year. Mazepin led large portions but collected ten seconds of penalties for defensive moves against Tsunoda and Drugovich, dropping to ninth. That promoted Drugovich to third, Shwartzman fourth, Ilott fifth and Schumacher sixth, the latter setting fastest lap; PREMA clinched the teams' title. The 14-point gap held: Schumacher 213, Ilott 199. The Sprint, run over its full distance with a virtual safety car for debris, went to Daruvala for a maiden F2 win, passing Ticktum with an outside move before pulling clear; Tsunoda second, Ticktum third. Ilott needed to win to keep his hopes alive but finished tenth, while Schumacher locked up early, damaged his tyres and finished 18th. With both title rivals out of the points, Schumacher's lead was uncatchable and he was crowned 2020 F2 champion by 14 points, 215 to 201.
