The Story

On the full Bahrain layout, Ilott took pole by 0.391s from Drugovich, with Schumacher only tenth and Tsunoda starting last after a qualifying off. The Feature went to Drugovich, who passed pole-sitter Ilott at Turn 1 and managed his tyres to win by nearly fifteen seconds. The pit phase decided second: a sticking left-front delayed Ilott's stop, and though he briefly netted the lead when Drugovich ran wide on his out-lap, Drugovich retook it on fresher tyres. Daruvala held third, defending hard from Schumacher and hurting his tyres in the process, while Schumacher recovered from tenth to fourth. Tsunoda produced a drive of the day, climbing from last to sixth. The reversed-grid Sprint went to Shwartzman, lights to flag, by over five seconds from Mazepin. A safety car around lap eight bunched the field, and at the restart Schumacher locked up heavily; Ilott, avoiding him, veered into the blameless Daruvala, who retired. Ilott pitted for a new front wing, took a drive-through penalty and finished 16th with no points. Schumacher left Bahrain leading Ilott by 14 points, the title still alive into the finale.
