The Story

Spa-Francorchamps will forever be remembered for tragedy. de Vries took pole on Friday ahead of Sette Câmara. On Saturday, 31 August 2019, the Feature Race was red-flagged and abandoned on its second lap following a violent multi-car crash at the Raidillon/Eau Rouge complex. Anthoine Hubert, the 22-year-old Frenchman racing for BWT Arden, was killed; Juan Manuel Correa was seriously injured. The race was not restarted and no result was issued. As a mark of respect, Sunday's Sprint Race was cancelled and did not run. Hubert had been one of the stories of the season, winning sprint races at Monaco and Paul Ricard, and his loss was felt across the whole of motorsport. F1pedia remembers him with respect.
