The Story

Monza was the first round after Spa, run under the banner "Racing for Anthoine" with tributes to Hubert across the paddock. Qualifying was wet and chaotic, red-flagged after Matsushita and Calderón crashed; Ilott took pole, while championship leader de Vries was excluded for insufficient fuel and started last. In the Feature, Matsushita passed Ilott at the Variante della Roggia and, after a rapid stop, managed his tyres to win by a comfortable margin despite losing a turning vane late on. He dedicated the victory to Hubert, and the French anthem was played on the podium at the drivers' request. Behind, an extraordinary recovery saw de Vries climb from last to third, only for Ghiotto — himself charging from deep on the grid — to pass both Ilott and then de Vries at Ascari for second. Sette Câmara lost fourth to a penalty, promoting Ilott. Sunday's Sprint went to Aitken from reverse-grid pole; King briefly led before Aitken timed the restart from a virtual safety car perfectly to retake control and win. The VSC came after a chain-reaction incident eliminated Sette Câmara. de Vries extended his title lead.
