At Barcelona, Ghiotto took pole but the start undid him once more. From the second row his own UNI-Virtuosi team-mate Zhou launched between the front row to lead, while Ghiotto's afternoon unravelled when Boccolacci clipped his front wing in a passing attempt, forcing a stop for repairs that dropped him to the back. Alesi spun off and beached his car to bring out the safety car. At the restart Latifi reeled in race-leader Zhou and swept around the outside to take a lead he would not relinquish, winning ahead of Aitken, who passed Zhou late for second. Zhou held on for third, with Ghiotto recovering superbly to fourth. Aitken and Boccolacci had carried grid penalties for a plank infringement. In Sunday's Sprint, Matsushita's Carlin caught fire on the opening lap to bring out a safety car and end his race. From reverse-grid pole Ilott bogged down, letting Hubert lead before de Vries swept by once DRS was enabled to win unchallenged. On the final lap Ghiotto dived around the outside of Turn 1 to grab second from Ilott, who took his podium in third. Latifi stayed top of the standings.
