The Story

The 2025 season opened at Albert Park, but the weekend will be remembered as much for the race that never ran as the one that did. Minì set the fastest qualifying lap but a three-place penalty for impeding Crawford handed Feature pole to Martins. The Sprint was all Dürksen: starting from reverse-grid pole he controlled the AIX car from lights to flag, beating Fornaroli and Browning, who hounded the Invicta for second but could not find a way through. Behind, Montoya edged Minì in a tight scrap and Dunne picked off Lindblad late for ninth. Both Trident cars triggered cautions as Esterson and Meguetounif spun off, while Martins crashed out early after his qualifying drama. The Feature Race never got going: heavy rain swept Melbourne on Sunday, the start was aborted, two red flags followed without a single green-flag lap completed, and with the Formula 1 grand prix looming race control cancelled it. No race points were awarded; Martins kept only the two for pole. Dürksen left Australia as the surprise early points leader.
