The Red Bull Ring served up one of the season's strangest results. Vesti took pole. In the Sprint, Armstrong led home Pourchaire and Doohan, while Lawson, having stalled and started from the pit lane, retired with a gearbox issue. Penalties for Iwasa and Cordeel reshuffled the order. The Feature was thrown into chaos by a damp track that dried rapidly. Verschoor, the highest-placed driver to gamble on slick tyres while the leaders ran wets, watched his rivals fall off a cliff as the track came to him; Drugovich tumbled down the order on the wrong rubber. Verschoor built a huge lead and crossed the line first, only to be disqualified afterwards for an insufficient fuel sample. That promoted Sargeant to a second straight Feature win, with Fittipaldi second. A cascade of penalties shaped the rest: Daruvala was hit with a 20-second sanction for his team illegally drying his grid slot, and track-limits penalties caught several others, leaving Merhi an unlikely third, Hauger fourth, Hughes fifth and Caldwell a maiden points finish in sixth. Armstrong, the Sprint winner, had earlier retired after contact with Daruvala triggered a safety car. Sargeant's surge tightened the title picture, though Drugovich stayed in front.
