Yevan David

Yevan David (born 11 July 2007 in Romford, London) is a Sri Lankan racing driver and a genuine pioneer for his country: in 2026 he became the first Sri Lankan ever to race in the FIA Formula 3 Championship. Born in England to Sri Lankan parents and raised in Singapore from the age of four, he carries the hopes of a nation with little single-seater heritage.

The climb

David's foundation was in Asian karting from around the age of six, winning the IAME Asia Series X30 Cadet title in 2017 and the X30 Asia Cup at the Sri Lanka Circuit in 2018. An early landmark came at the 2022 FIA Motorsport Games, where he took pole position in the F4 Cup — reported as the first such pole for Sri Lanka. He moved into car racing proper in 2024 with Saintéloc Racing, contesting Spanish and UAE F4 as a learning year, while a guest Euroformula Open outing at Monza brought two race wins.

Euroformula Open

David's breakthrough came in 2025 with Team Motopark in Euroformula Open, where he finished runner-up in the championship with six wins from 24 races and 345 points — a standout campaign that earned him his step up. He also made brief GB3 and Formula Regional Oceania appearances around it.

Formula 3

For 2026 David joined the FIA Formula 3 Championship with AIX Racing in car #27 — he was, in fact, the very first driver confirmed for the entire 2026 F3 grid, announced back in August 2025. He arrives with no F1-team academy backing, racing as a privately supported driver.

2026 / current season

As expected of a rookie with a backmarker-leaning team, David's debut F3 season has been a steep learning curve. He has yet to score, and at Monaco — where he became the first Sri Lankan to race an F3 car around the principality — he picked up a ten-second penalty for causing a collision. Through the early rounds he sits at the foot of the standings on no points. The results will take time, but the milestone is already secure: every lap David completes is a first for Sri Lankan motorsport on the world's premier junior single-seater stage.
