Mattia Colnaghi (born 26 July 2008 in Monza, Italy) is an Italo-Argentine single-seater driver and Red Bull Junior Team member who arrives in the FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2026 as one of the youngest and most decorated rookies on the grid. Though born and raised in the heartland of Italian motorsport, he races under an Argentine licence through his family heritage.
The climb
Colnaghi came up through karting before a notably rapid rise in cars. He made his single-seater debut in the 2024 Formula Winter Series with MP Motorsport and the same year contested the Spanish Formula 4 Championship, which he won as a rookie with 282 points — the first rookie to take the Spanish F4 crown since Nikola Tsolov in 2022. He also sampled Formula Regional machinery at the 2024 Macau Grand Prix.
In 2025 he stepped up to Eurocup-3 and dominated, claiming both the overall title and the rookie title with 256 points across 16 races, racking up multiple wins, podiums and poles. Back-to-back single-seater crowns before his eighteenth birthday earned him a place on the Red Bull Junior Team in August 2025 and cemented a partnership with the Dutch MP squad that has carried him through every step.
Formula 3
For 2026 Colnaghi graduated to FIA Formula 3 with MP Motorsport, carrying car #7 and continuing the alliance that delivered his Spanish F4 title — this time with Red Bull backing on his shoulders. Heading into his rookie campaign he spoke confidently of fighting for podiums, framing the season as a chance to maximise his potential on the Red Bull development pathway.
2026 / current season
The early rounds have been about banking laps rather than chasing the front, as a back-to-back junior champion adapts to F3's unforgiving learning curve against a field packed with experienced returnees. He opened his account with a points finish in the Monaco Sprint, sitting near the lower reaches of the standings after the Barcelona round while building toward the second half of the year. For one of the youngest drivers in the field, simply being on the grid at 17 is a statement; the rest of 2026 is about proving the trophies from F4 and Eurocup-3 can translate to the world's most competitive junior series.
