The climb

Louis Sharp, born in Nottingham on 11 May 2007 and raised largely in Christchurch, New Zealand, is a New Zealand and British racing driver carrying the backing of David Dicker's Rodin Cars — not an F1 manufacturer academy, contrary to occasional Red Bull-junior speculation. He attended St Bede's College in Christchurch and set his sights early on Formula 1.

Junior career

Sharp tore through the British junior ladder. He won the Formula 4 UAE Trophy in 2022, then claimed the 2023 British F4 Championship with Rodin Carlin — six wins, four poles and fourteen podiums. He doubled up in 2024 as GB3 Champion with Rodin Motorsport, racking up five wins, five poles, ten podiums and 478 points. Across those title years his victories came at marquee circuits including Oulton Park, Donington Park, Croft, Silverstone, Brands Hatch and the Hungaroring — back-to-back crowns that fast-tracked him to FIA Formula 3.

Formula 3

Sharp stepped up to the FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2025 with Rodin Motorsport, his first season at the level yielding a handful of points finishes and 26th overall as he learned the category.

2026 season

For 2026 Sharp made a notable switch, moving from Rodin to PREMA Racing — the championship's benchmark squad and home to multiple recent F3 title winners — to race car #20. The early rounds proved bruising: he was forced to withdraw from the Melbourne Feature Race on medical grounds following a sprint-race collision with teammate James Wharton, denting his points return. Through the opening rounds to Barcelona he sat 19th in the standings on 2 points, well adrift of a leaderboard headed by the likes of Ugo Ugochukwu and Théophile Naël. With a PREMA seat and two junior titles already behind him, the upside is clear; the challenge now is converting the raw pace that swept him to British F4 and GB3 crowns into consistent results at F3 level. The season remains in progress.
