Junior career

Freddie Slater (born 9 August 2008 in Stratford-upon-Avon, England) is a British racing driver who emerged from one of the strongest karting CVs of his generation. He won the CIK-FIA Karting World Championship (OK-Junior) in 2020 and European titles across the OK-Junior and KZ2 categories, marking him out as a leading prospect before he had reached single-seaters.

Formula 3

Slater stepped up to car racing with immediate success. In 2025 he won the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA), having earlier finished second in the Formula Regional Middle East series. He made his first appearances in the FIA Formula 3 Championship the same year as a part-season entry, taking a podium on his debut weekend at the Sakhir sprint race and later driving for Hitech TGR at Spa-Francorchamps, where he qualified well but lost out to tyre wear and track-limits penalties in the race.

In January 2026 he became the first signing to the newly launched Audi Driver Development Programme, tying his future to the manufacturer ahead of its F1 entry, and he has spoken publicly about a friendship with Lando Norris.

2026 / current season

Slater turned his full F3 campaign with Trident into a front-running rookie year. He delivered the team's first podium of the season straight away at Melbourne's Albert Park, passing into second off the line in the Feature Race, then added a second Feature podium with third in Monaco and a Sprint podium at Barcelona. The run of results carried him into the thick of the title fight: he sat third in the standings on 34 points after Monaco and later drew level with Ugo Ugochukwu at the top of the 2026 Drivers' Championship, confirming his karting-era promise was translating into single-seater pace.
