Ayumu Iwasa

Ayumu Iwasa is a Japanese racing driver and a member of both the Red Bull Junior Team and the Honda Formula Dream Project. Red Bull signed him for 2021 after he won the French F4 title, and he quickly became one of the most highly rated graduates of the FIA single-seater ladder.

Formula 3

Iwasa contested the 2021 FIA Formula 3 Championship with Hitech Grand Prix, racing alongside fellow Red Bull junior Jak Crawford. He took a maiden win in Race 1 at Budapest and a podium at Zandvoort, finishing 12th overall and fourth among the rookies in his single F3 campaign.

Formula 2

For 2022 Iwasa stepped up to the FIA Formula 2 Championship with DAMS. He made an immediate impact, scoring Feature Race wins in France and Abu Dhabi, two poles and further podiums to finish fifth in the standings as a rookie. He stayed with DAMS for 2023 — now partnering Ferrari junior Arthur Leclerc — and was again a frontrunner, winning sprint races in Saudi Arabia and Monaco and the Feature Race in Australia on his way to fourth in the championship.

After F2

Iwasa moved to Japan to race in Super Formula and remained on Red Bull / Honda's radar, later taking on Formula 1 testing and reserve duties within the Red Bull orbit.
