René Binder is an Austrian racing driver whose junior-formula career spanned the GP2 Series and its FIA Formula 2 successor.
Binder raced in GP2 between 2012 and 2016, starting 72 races and taking a best finish of sixth in the 2013 Monaco sprint race. When GP2 was rebranded as the FIA Formula 2 Championship for 2017, Binder made a one-off return at the standalone Jerez round, joining Rapax in the No. 19 car in place of former Formula 1 driver Roberto Merhi.
At the time of that appearance he was competing full-time in Formula V8 3.5, sitting fifth in the standings with three wins to his name. The Rapax arrangement covered the Jerez weekend only.
