Logan Sargeant

Logan Sargeant is an American racing driver and Williams Academy product who in 2023 became the first U.S. Formula 1 driver since 2015. He reached F1 via three seasons of FIA Formula 3 (2019–2021) and a standout 2022 in Formula 2.

Formula 3

Sargeant joined the new FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2019 with Carlin. His best year came in 2020 with Prema Racing, where he was locked in a three-way title fight with teammate Oscar Piastri and Theo Pourchaire — only for a first-lap collision in the final race to wreck his championship bid, leaving him third. He stayed in F3 for 2021 but, switching to Charouz Racing System, found wins harder to come by; he still took a victory and four podiums and helped Charouz to their best team result, earning a Williams Academy place at season's end.

Formula 2

Graduating to F2 in 2022 with Carlin, Sargeant impressed in his rookie year: he became the first American to win an F2 race, took two wins overall with consistent scoring, and finished fourth — earning Rookie of the Year and the superlicence points needed for his F1 promotion.

Sargeant went on to race in Formula 1 with Williams. His junior peak was the agonisingly close 2020 F3 title fight.
