Junior career

Giuliano Ryu Alesi (born 20 September 1999) is a French racing driver and the son of former Formula 1 grand prix winner Jean Alesi. In March 2016 he was inducted into the Ferrari Driver Academy alongside Charles Leclerc, and he spent three seasons in the GP3 Series. His strongest GP3 year was 2017, when he took three wins and finished fifth in the standings; he added another victory in 2018 to finish seventh.

Formula 2

Alesi moved up to the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2019 with Trident, partnering Ralph Boschung. It was a difficult campaign - he managed only one points finish in the first half of the season - though his form picked up after the Monza round, where he finished seventh in both races. He ended the year 15th overall.

For 2020 he switched to HWA Racelab, his father's former DTM team, alongside Artem Markelov. The package underperformed - Jean Alesi later admitted the family had 'banked on the wrong team' - and Giuliano moved to MP Motorsport for the final three rounds of the season, finishing 17th in the championship. He left the Ferrari Driver Academy after his first F1 test.

After F2

Alesi relocated to Japan, where he rebuilt his career: he finished runner-up in Super Formula Lights in 2021, raced in Super Formula from 2021, and joined the Super GT GT500 class with Toyota/TOM'S machinery from 2022. He did not reach Formula 1, but established himself as a respected professional in Japanese top-level racing.
