Alessio Lorandi is an Italian former racing driver born on 8 September 1998. A successful karter — a karting world champion in 2013 with eight WSK race wins — he moved into single-seaters in 2015.
Junior career
Lorandi debuted in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship in 2015 with Van Amersfoort Racing, as a teammate of Charles Leclerc. He switched to Carlin for 2016 and took a notable maiden win at the prestigious Pau Grand Prix. He then moved to the GP3 Series, debuting with Jenzer at the end of 2016 before a full 2017 campaign in which he scored several podiums and a reversed-grid win at Jerez.
Formula 2
Lorandi's Formula 2 chapter came mid-2018. He began the year contesting GP3 with Trident, but was called up to the team's F2 operation as a replacement for Santino Ferrucci, whom Trident dismissed after an unsportsmanlike incident at Silverstone. Lorandi made his F2 debut at the Hungaroring round in late July and saw out the remainder of the season, managing just a single points finish in ten starts.
After F2/F3
Lorandi later moved into GT racing, including a switch to Mercedes machinery, and became involved in coaching and driver development — running the BabyRace Driver Academy and an online coaching platform.
