About Trevis
Origins
Trevis is an Indianapolis-era entry in the F1 constructor ledger, dating to the period (1950-1960) when the Indianapolis 500 counted toward the Formula 1 World Drivers' Championship. The Trevis name belonged to Floyd Trevis, an Indianapolis chassis builder of the 1950s whose roadsters appeared in multiple 500-mile races during the championship-counting decade.
Scope
Like the other Indianapolis-only constructors of the era, Trevis acquired F1 statistical presence purely through the 500's inclusion in the championship. The entries had no European participation and the chassis themselves were tailored to Brickyard oval racing, with no relevance to road-circuit grand prix design.
Legacy
Trevis sits in the constructor archive alongside Kurtis Kraft, Watson, Epperly, Lesovsky and the other Indianapolis names that briefly intersected with the F1 record. The wider Trevis story belongs to American oval-racing history, where the chassis maker is remembered for his contribution to mid-1950s roadster design rather than for any meaningful F1 imprint.
