About MBM
Origins
MBM (sometimes rendered as Behra-Porsche or Stuck-MBM in F1 record books) was the brief Italian-Swiss constructor effort of 1961, building Formula 1 chassis around the Porsche flat-four engine for entries by Hans Herrmann and others. The "MBM" stood for the constructor's initials — a small operation with limited resources attempting to put a Porsche-engined privateer car on grids dominated by Ferrari, Cooper, Lotus and BRM.
Golden Era
There was no golden era. MBM-badged entries appeared in a small handful of 1961 World Championship rounds and produced no points-paying finishes.
Legendary Cars
The cars were essentially the Behra-Porsche RSK chassis with F1-spec modifications — competent in their original Formula 2 sportscar context but uncompetitive against full F1 designs.
Lows and Reinventions
The team did not continue beyond 1961. Porsche itself produced its own F1 entries through 1962 (with Dan Gurney scoring the marque's only F1 victory at Rouen 1962), making private MBM efforts redundant.
Modern Era
MBM is one of the more obscure constructor names from the 1.5-litre formula era — a brief Porsche-engined privateer venture with no documented competitive achievements. The chassis themselves are difficult to trace in modern collections; the operation existed for less than a season and produced no surviving icons.
